This blog is no longer “A blog about camping out in Toronto”. The tag line will now read “A blog about putting down roots in Calgary”. Here’s to making and keeping Calgary home. It will take a while, but we know we’re in God’s will…

Today was shopping day. We are so VERY blessed to have the most amazing family here in Calgary. Derwyn’s cousin Connie and her husband Shawn live a one minute drive from our house. Connie has already blessed us with taking the kids to chill on move-in day, had us over for dinner on Sunday night (she makes some mean ribs) and today she was our personal chauffeur and spent the day showing us the best places to shop near our house. She also took us to a doctor’s office where a new doctor is arriving within a month and is accepting new patients!

We started out buying a new mattress for Laurenne. Her’s was old and you could feel the springs through the double layer foam mattress pads… Part of the gift we were given upon leaving Toronto went to Laurenne’s much sweeter dreams. Then we were off to find bedding for the kids to help decorate their rooms. We made a million other stops I won’t bore you with, but our final stop at Ikea was the jackpot stop for the kids. Laurenne got her dream bedding of a duvet cover with the alphabet on it – as an author, this tickled her beyond measure. Andrew’s dream set would be red and black in bold graphics. We couldn’t find that, but he is thrilled with his red duvet cover and black sheets.

We are still exhausted – we didn’t realize how much the drive took out of us and we’re looking forward to staying home tomorrow to actually unpack for more than an hour or two…

Just wanted to let you know we’re still alive and haven’t been swallowed up in boxes yet.
