Our first morning in Connecticut found us heading off to New Haven to investigate Yale University. The down town core near the University (the bit that we saw) reminds us very much of Nelson – just blocks longer. New England is full of the biggest and most beautiful trees and Yale is a stunning campus. We visited the Hall of Graduate Studies and discovered that Derwyn’s classes would be taken in a different building, so off we went. The registrar was on holiday, so the financial “lady” was a gracious hostess and showed us around the building and offered us a drink and rest in the doctoral student lounge. We then headed off to a New Haven favourite bookstore for lunch and then to the seminary to get a peek at where Derwyn would teach. On our way for lunch, Andrew found a street sign and his reaction had us all in stitches – you’ll have to check it out in the photo. I have a wonderfully silly boy. Laurenne found her department of study at Yale and was thrilled to discover that many famous actors have studied there. The School of Drama is now in her sights. With our sight-seeing done, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the beach…
