To better understand how much good news this is, let me fill you in. Up until now, mom has only been able to sit for about 1/2 an hour before she is ready to go back to bed. The only “food” she has been able to eat is broth and fruit juice. Sleep has not been easy and she is usually awake for large portions of the night.
Dad then told me that after the email was sent, mom had almost a full container of V-8 juice in one sitting (this was usually a two-day affair) along with a soda cracker. Mom has not been able to chew or keep any solid food down since the accident. For her to have not been “sick” since she has been home is a miracle and a testament to the power of prayer. Keeping a cracker down may not seem like much, but for mom it is like winning an Olympic gold medal! After lunch, they went for a ride around the house – yes, their house is teeny, but mom navigated under her own power (except for the tiny uphill ramp from the kitchen to the hall). Our only expectation for the next few weeks has been that mom would eventually sleep and start to eat. We had no idea that it would happen so soon. Dad said that he can see a difference in her face and skin already!
We are doing a big happy dance around here!
